Obituary For Teresa Josephine Vasilovich

Teresa "Josephine" Vasilovich died peacefully in her sleep on July 28th, 2022 at home in Pine Grove, CA. Josie was born on November 7, 1929 in Lago di Garda Italy, to Carolina Razzi and Angelo Ernesto Pace.

Josie is preceded in death by her first and second husband (John James Perano) and (Evo Vasilovich). Josie is also preceded by her sister Rosa and her parents, Carolina Razzi, and Angelo Ernesto Pace. She is survived by her loving daughter Viviana (Carla) Backovich of Pine Grove, grandsons Kevin and Brian of Pioneer, granddaughter Christine, cousin Linda Newton, second cousins Matt and Kyle, great grandson Jack, great granddaughter Emily Smith, and son in law George Backovich of Pine Grove, CA.

"Josie" was a teenager during World War 2 when the Facist took over Italy. The gestapo came to her house and demanded all the family's valuables. At 13, Josie was forced to work in a hotel that was converted into a hospital. Along with the sights of death, she often saw limbs in garbage’s. After the war was over, the family migrated to America one by one. Josie's family believed in the American dream and the promise of a new life.

Josie had an angelic singing voice and would use any opportunity to sing a beautiful hymn to her family at gatherings. Josie loved gardening, sunrises, and sunsets. Josie volunteered at the Hospice for years. Josie was a part of the Sierra Madre and Rose Garden Club. There wasn't a single flower or plant she couldn't identify in Amador County. Josie led wildflower walks, picking flowers to display at the Amador Senior Center every year. She loved to encourage people and share the love of Jesus. She was a prayer warrior and could often be found reading her "Daily Bread" or Bible. She had an intense love for her family.

Josie will be greatly missed by all her family, as she was a woman who touched every person she met. She is now resting peacefully, singing in the angelic choir in heaven, with her Lord and Savior.

Known her all my life. Best memories: her clear & beautiful voice, her arugula from her garden and splitting a wheel of Gorgonzola with her & Monica Giannini. Peace

I can remember this lady when she first came to Amador County. Her daughter, Viviana, got enrolled at Jackson Elementary. At that time neither of them spoke English. They overcame that language barrier which I think is huge. Sending prayers to the family. Be strong my friend Viviana.♥️🙏🏻
