Obituary of Michael R Orey

Michael Richard Orey passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on March 4, 2023, from Pancreatic Cancer. He was born on August 1, 1973, to Edgar and Lolita Orey at Clark Air Force Base in Angeles City, Philippines. His family settled in Watsonville, CA which Michael considers his hometown. He graduated from Watsonville High School in 1992. He then attended Universal Technical Institute (UTI) in Arizona to obtain his mechanic's license. Most recently he owned his own business, Orey Plumbing, and was a plumber by trade. He was a longtime resident of Pioneer, CA where he raised his family. He is survived by his wife, Patricia Rose Orey of Pioneer, CA; his daughters, Breanne Rose Orey of Colorado Springs, CO and Jenahvieve Iris Orey of Pioneer, CA; his sisters Annalyn and Dave Trayer of Tracy, CA, and Sheila and Steve Sorensen of Saratoga Springs, UT; his brother Dale Orey of Carmel, CA; his mother-in-law Jackie and Phil Machado of Jackson, CA; and several nieces and nephews and additional extended family members. He is preceded by his parents, MSgt. Edgar Ivan Orey and Lolita Cababa Orate Orey and his brother, Daniel Wade Orey. Michael was an active community member in Amador County. He will be remembered for his profession and his involvement with the volleyball community. He loved jeeping, camping, fishing, working on cars, and making people laugh with his witty humor. He will be remembered as a hard worker, a dedicated coach, a generous person, and a devoted husband and father. Friends and family are invited to attend a viewing starting at 10:00 a.m at Daneri Mortuary, Jackson, CA on Saturday, March 11, 2023, with services following at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to Amador STARS who provide free services to local cancer patients.
