Obituary of Neldia Kay Evans

In loving memory, we announce that Neldia Kay Evans passed away on October 8, 2022, at the age of 80. Neldia was born in Bogata, Texas on February 28, 1942. She moved to Jackson, California as a young girl, and spent much of her adult life in Sutter Creek. Neldia is survived by her two sons, Chuck and Michael Boro of Ione and Sutter Creek, her 4 stepchildren, Linda (George) Moore of Carson City, NV, Bo Evans of Drytown, CA, Amber (Ed) Evans of Ione, CA, and Scarlett Craig of Jackson, CA, 20 grandchildren and several great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Jo Ann (Michael) Stagno of North Pole, Alaska, and her brother, Rick (Kathy) Higgins of Lodi, California. Neldia was preceded in death by the love of her life, Elmer G. Evans, and her siblings Walt and Jeannie Higgins. After working in the Amador County Clerk's Office for many years, Neldia retired as a superior court clerk, but her true success was in her personal life. Neldia was a loyal and true friend. She kept up lifelong friendships with the girls that she met when she moved to Jackson. Neldia was a devoted and selfless mother and grandmother. She gave her love unconditionally, she was quick to forgive, and always very understanding of any mess that a child or grandchild found themselves in. Neldia's happiest years were the 36 years that she was married to Elmer. They loved to entertain and often hosted parties where family and friends merrily ate, drank, and enjoyed each other's company. They also loved to spend time in the outdoors of Amador County. Neldia will be greatly missed by her surviving loved ones. A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, October 30, 2022, at 11:45 am at the Creekside United Methodist Social Hall, 14 Main Street, Sutter Creek, CA 95685.
