Frank Camper

Obituary of Frank Edward Camper

Frank Edward Camper Jr. of Ione, passed peacefully into his eternal rest, surrounded by his family, on August 8, 2022. Frank was the only son of Frank Edward Camper and Helen Mae Camper (Kent), born on October 1, 1955, in Toledo, Ohio. At the age of two, the family moved to Southern California where he attended school until his sophomore year of high school, when he and his mother moved back to Ohio. Immediately after graduating, Frank moved back to Southern California and enlisted in the U.S. Navy where he served as a boiler technician on the USS Cleveland, out of Long Beach, CA. Following his honorable discharge from the Navy, Frank worked for Dick Cepek tires, briefly, until he made the decision to relocate to Amador County in December of 1978. He worked as a cabinet maker and roofer for a short time, then as cemetery sexton (gravedigger) for Daneri Mortuary for 10 years until he began his 22-year career as a correctional officer for the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation. After his retirement, Frank would spend his days working on his hobby and passion - antique furniture restoration. He also had a love for cars and racing, which he would attend events whenever he could. He affectionately became known as "the furniture guy" in the city of Ione, where he resided for over 22 years. In June 2019, Frank, and his wife Rene, being strong in their faith, joined Generation Life Church in Sutter Creek, CA. Frank loved the Lord and was faithful in attending church services even in his disabled condition and rarely missed a Sunday. He developed many strong friendships and enjoyed attending the Men's Ministry activities. Frank is survived by the love of his life and wife of 40 years, Rene' (Cherry) Camper, and their children: daughter, Miranda Hammer (Brian), daughter, Jennessa Crouse (Robert), son Brenton Camper, daughter Amelia Camper, daughter Katie Camper-Johnson (Jacob) and daughter Jubilee Camper. Frank loved to laugh and to cause those around to laugh along with him. He had a robust, quick wit, outgoing, and "people loving" personality. He loved his wife and family deeply and expressed his thoughts and feelings out loud without apology. Frank's sense of humor was not thwarted by the suffering he endured, nor was his faith shaken with the unknowing future. His strength and undying love was noteworthy and a testimony to all who knew him. He was a light in this dark, uncertain world and will be greatly missed. I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day, and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for His appearing. 2 Timothy 4:7-8 Celebration of Life will be Saturday August 13, 2022, at 11 a.m. at Generation Life Church, 125 Academy Drive, Sutter Creek, CA 95685. In lieu flowers, the family requests donations be made to Generation Life Church Benevolence Fund.
