Obituary of Donald Alex Warzecka
Donald Alex Warzecka (Mr. Don) passed on June 8, 2022 after a brief illness. He was 77 years of age. He died at Sutter Medical Center in Sacramento surrounded by his family and supported by a caring staff. Donald was born in Detroit, Michigan. The family moved to Southern California where Donald graduated from Claremont High School and Chafee College. After receiving a degree in psychology from San Francisco State University, Donald earned several
teaching credentials from San Jose State University and National University. He was honored to work with special students at Gateway Center in Gilroy, Tri-County Consortium
in Amador County, Calaveras High School, Railroad Flat and West Point Elementary
Schools. While in Gilroy Donald started a special needs Boy Scout Troop with scouts
ranging in age from seven to young adults. Donald was a volunteer at Indian Grinding
Rock State Historic Park and Kennedy Mine. He enjoyed hiking, backpacking
(completed the John Muir Trail), photography, and reading. His love of traveling
brought him to the Philippines, Canada, Alaska, Hawaii, the Southwest, and the New
England states.
Donald is survived by his wife of forty-five years Marilyn Alarcon who he married in
Yosemite National Park. He enjoyed writing in his journal and collecting sayings. So
from Donald's journal… "Don't let regrets haunt you."
A funeral mass will take place Saturday, July 9, 2022 at 11:00 A.M. at Our Lady of the
Pines Catholic Church in Pioneer.
