Obituary of Helen Thompson

Helen Louise Thompson was born Feb. 28, 1915 in Rayville, Louisiana. Passed into the loving arms of our Savior, May 30, 2010. The daughter of Fritz and Helena Laun, she was raised in Kansas City, MO. Her husband, John (known as Fred) preceded her in death in 2002 after 70 years of marriage. They were married in 1932, coming to California the same year. Living first in Los Angeles, then locating in Fair Oaks in 1956. She lived the last few years in Amador County. For the last 3 years she lived, and was beautifully cared for, at Gold Quartz Sr. Residence in Sutter Creek. Helen was the devoted mother of Carol Messing (Guy) and Michael Thompson. Loving grandmother to Craig Messing (JoAnn), Steve Messing (Debra), Kim Messing who preceded her in death in 2004, Ron Messing (Allison), Demian Thompson (Beatrice) and Eli Thompson. Also survived by 8 great-grandchildren, her sister Jean Person and 5 nieces. Gentle, loving and wise, her family will miss her beyond words. She will be placed beside her husband at Fair Oaks Cemetery. A "Celebration of Her Life" will be held at a later date. The family wishes to give special thanks to the staff at Gold Quartz Assisted Living in Sutter Creek for the wonderful care she received during the time she was in their care and to Hospice of Amador and Calaveras.
