Obituary of Colleen Marion Tinney

Colleen Marion Tinney passed away Monday March 13, 2023, in Fiddletown, CA at the age of 66 years old. She was born in San Mateo, CA on August 19, 1956, daughter of the late Marion and Jay Scholes.

She is survived by her husband of forty years Charles Richard Tinney of Volcano, CA; sister Beverly Prescott of San Mateo, CA; sister Barbara Scholes of Jackson, CA; sister-in-law Dianne (Roy) Schaumburg of Woodland, CA; children Erin Elizabeth (David) Porter of Sacramento, CA; Michelle Renee (Jim) Young of Fiddletown, CA; Ricky Jay (Leo Williams) Tinney of Sacramento, CA. She is also survived by grandchildren, Tyler Young, Madison Young, Harper Young, Benjamin Porter, and Harrison Porter as well as nieces Sara (Cameron) Maze, Holly Mariotte, and Jessica (Pat) McNichol. She is preceded in death by her brothers Kenneth Nicklos, Jay Scholes, and a nephew Christopher Saylor.

Seeking a more serene life, Colleen and family moved from the bay area to Volcano, CA in 1996 leaving a 15-year career at SRI International where she worked in the purchasing department. For the first 4 years of living in Amador County, she was a stay-at-home mom then began working at The Jackson Rancheria for the next 16 years before deciding to retire. Colleen lived life to the very fullest enjoying summer days on the lake, traveling and live concerts with family and friends. A deeply devoted wife, mother, aunt and grandmother, Colleen’s kindness and sense of humor made her a friend to many over the years. She will be profoundly missed, and her signature laugh will remain in our hearts forever.

On Saturday, April 1, 2023, a viewing will be held from 9:00 to 10:30am followed by a Memorial Service at 11:00am at Daneri Mortuary in Jackson, CA. After the service, a private burial will be held at Sunset View cemetery where Colleen will be laid to rest.
