Obituary of James Roy John

James “Jim/JJ” Roy John passed away suddenly on May 6, 2023, in Folsom, CA. He was born on December 13, 1960, to Ross Ambros John and Doris Jean Wood in Concord, CA. 

Jim loved life and especially enjoyed hanging out with his fur babies and drinking wine with his wife, Lindy at their “Mountain Home,” in Pioneer.  Although Jim and Lindy had been together for several years, they were recently married and were looking forward to many more adventures together. Jim was an extremely gifted musician and singer who played multiple instruments with the guitar being his favorite. He was General Contractor for over 30 years and an all-around man of many talents. For the past six years he worked at the CAL FIRE Training Center in Ione and was proud to be a part of the CAL FIRE family.  

Jim is survived by wife Melinda “Lindy” Noelle John (Shoff) of Pioneer and their fur babies, dogs; Onyx, Lucy, Gordon and Gracie, and cats; Reese, Sera, Sebastian, Johnny (Baby J) and June. His daughters, Gentry of Oregon, and Amanda (Luis) of Sacramento; sister, Michelle Smith (Hank) of Kelseyville; brothers, Jess (Jim’s twin) of Elk Grove and Chris John of Citrus Heights; nieces, Brittany, Kaylee (Cody), and Rachel; nephews, Ian, and Ryan. As well as his in-laws, John, and Ann Shof of Carmichael; brother-in-law, Michael (Shannon) of Davis; several aunts, uncles, cousin, friends, and co-workers. He was preceded in death by his parents, Doris, and Ross.
