



Obituary of Norma Jean Cuneo
Norma Jean (Ball) Cuneo
August 3, 1929 – August 29, 2023
After a 10-year battle with Parkinson’s, Norma passed away at Argonaut Care Home in Jackson the age of 94, surrounded by family. She is survived by her daughter, Jennifer Geraurd and her husband Dave; her grandson Steven, his wife Whitney and Norma’s great grandchildren Jack and Ellie; her brothers, Ilus (Junior) and Leon Ball, sisters Peggy Harris and Mary Jane Baker along with numerous nieces and nephews. Norma is preceded in death by her husband Fred, they had been married for 67 years. Norma was also preceded in death by her parents, Ilus and Mary, brothers Laverne, Hollis, Don, Bob, and sister Nancy.
Norma was born in Cassville, MO, and was the second of 10 children born to Ilus and Mary Ball. In the late 1930’s the family moved to California where they made their home in Amador County. Norma met Fred in June of 1946 at the Italian Picnic and on June 8, 1947, they were married and began their life together in Jackson, CA. Shortly after their wedding, Norma went to work for Bank of America and enjoyed a 37 year career, retiring as a loan officer and teller.
An active member of the community, Norma tirelessly volunteered for the Jackson Band Boosters, the American Cancer Society, and after her retirement, she served for 25 years as a volunteer for the Sutter Amador Auxiliary. She was also an active member of the Jackson Methodist Church and the Silver Lake Chapel, where she assisted with memorial services, bookkeeping, and arranging guest pastors for summer services at Silver Lake for over 40 years.
Norma was an accomplished cook and enjoyed learning the art of ravioli making from Fred’s grandmother Victoria Cuneo and her mother-in-law, Genevieve Cuneo. She was a wonderful homemaker; her passions included sewing beautiful clothes for her daughter Jennifer and gardening with Fred at the beautiful home they built together in 1954.
She was blessed to have so many wonderful friends and family and adored her grandson and great grandchildren. They brought so much joy in her life until her final days. She will be truly missed by all.
A funeral service will be held at Daneri Mortuary Chapel in Jackson on Tuesday, September 12th at 10:00 a.m. Internment will be at Sunset View Cemetery followed by a reception at Teresa’s Banquet room, 1235 Jackson Gate Road, Jackson, CA.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Amador Calaveras Hospice, Amador STARS or to the Silver Lake Chapel.
