Obituary of Lita Kathleen Gidding

Lita Gidding passed away Sunday, April 7, 2024, at her home in Sutter Creek at the age of 86 years. She was born March 16, 1938, to Carl and Jeanette (Smith) Parks in Merced, CA. 

She grew up in Turlock, CA, graduating from Turlock High School in 1956. She married Irvine Gidding in 1957, and they moved to Sutter Creek in 1960 where he was band teacher at Amador High School. Lita was a homemaker most of her adult life, giving of her time in many volunteer roles at Creekside United Methodist Church, Sutter Creek Primary School as first grade assistant, and the Interfaith Food Bank. She and Irv enjoyed many years of traveling with their fifth-wheel trailer, fishing, and golfing. She especially enjoyed reading science fiction and mystery books. 

She is survived by her children, Russell (Nanci) Gidding, Douglas (Sandy) Gidding, and Sandra (Kelly) Gidding; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Lita is preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Jeanette, and siblings O.B. of Yreka, and Keith of Yountville.

A service celebrating the lives of both Lita and Irv Gidding (who passed away in 2020), will be held on Sunday, April 14th, 4:00pm, at the Creekside United Methodist Church social hall in Sutter Creek, CA.  A private inurnment will be at the Sutter Creek City Cemetery in Sutter Creek, CA, at a later date.
