Obituary of Alice Isabel Urzik

Alice Isabel Urzik, 93, of Jackson, CA, passed away Thursday, July 14, 2011 at her home in Jackson. She was born in Toronto, Canada on July 10, 1918, daughter of the late Gladys (Worters) and Joseph Owen. Her family moved to California in 1921 and lived on a small ranch. She graduated from high school in Los Angeles, CA. She married Alfred Urzik in Los Angeles in 1941 and Alfred worked as an LAPD detective in Hollywood. The couple was living in North Hollywood when they retired in 1974 and moved to Amador County for a slower pace to life. She enjoyed dogs, animals, international travel, and baked the best apple pie, kalua cakes, and Christmas cookies. She was a volunteer at the Senior Center for 20 years, member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Amador County Hospital, was a supporter of the Friends of the Library, a member of the Jackson United Methodist Church, and a FAPERS member. She is survived by her sons, Richard Urzik and wife, Viola of Victorville, CA, Gary Urzik and wife, Julia of Jackson; grandsons Anthony Urzik, of Downey, CA, Ronald Urzik, of Pico Rivera, CA; niece,Blakley Pollock and husband, Mark of Granada Hills, CA. Alice was preceded in death by her husband of 36 years, Alfred Urzik in 1977, and brother, Thomas Owen. Friends are invited to attend a celebration of life at Daneri Mortuary Chapel in Jackson, at 10:00 A.M. on Friday, July 22nd. Inurnment will be in the Jackson City Cemetery in Jackson.
