Obituary of Charlene "Sambo" A Olson

Charlene, affectionately known by her friends as "Sambo" passed away at her home in Jackson, CA on February 19, 2011. Charlene was born in Madera, CA on September 22, 1943 to Babe and Barney Harris. After graduating from Calaveras High School, she was very proud that she obtained her LVN license by successfully "challenging" the State Board. Her nursing career included many years with Amador County Hospital in Jackson and Valley Children's Hospital in Fresno. At VCH, she developed a special relationship with each child in her care. Her love for the children kept her involved in charities such as Kids 'N Cancer and Sunshine House. She was a lifelong fan of singer Patti Page and they became friends which allowed a very special happiness in her life. Charlene will be deeply missed by her beloved daughter, Kathleen Schmucker and Kathy's husband Jeff of Las Vegas, NV, her brother Skip Harris and his wife Gail of Jackson, CA, her brother Jack Harris of Cooper Landing, AK, her sister Evelyn Lokey and her husband Don of Fresno, CA, her nieces and nephews, cousins and her many dear friends. She enjoyed a full moon and died with a full moon. At Charlene's request, no services will be held.
