Obituary of Mathew Frank Zanze

Mathew Frank Zanze, resident of Sutter Creek, passed away suddenly on February 1, 2011 at Mercy General Hospital in Sacramento. He was born on June 23, 1949 in San Francisco, California, the son of Alex (Zdravko) and Mary Zanze. Mathew grew up in Sacramento and graduated from Mira Loma High School in 1967. He served as a Hospital Corpsman in the U.S. Navy from 1968-1972. He graduated from California State University, Sacramento, in 1976 with a degree in Social Work. Mathew began work in Amador County as a Social Worker in 1982; became a Program Manager in 1993; and, since 2008, served as Director of the Amador County Health and Human Services. Mathew was loved and respected by family, friends, and the community of Amador County and his loss will be deeply felt. Mathew is survived by his children, Aaron, Joshua and Kristen Zanze and their mother, Linda Zanze; granddaughter Presley Alyssa Marie Zanze; his sister, Marie (Vern) Beckman and his brother David. Mathew was a hard worker, committed to his job, his employees and the people of Amador County. But first and foremost, he was a beloved father who was there, always, for his children. He will be remembered as a truly remarkable father, brother, and friend to many. Friends are invited to attend a visitation Thursday, February 10, 2011, 5:00 to 8:00 P.M. and a funeral service Friday, February 11, 11:00 A.M., at Daneri Mortuary Chapel, 415 Broadway, Jackson, CA 95642. Interment will be in the Garden of Valor, Sunset View Cemetery, Jackson, CA. Memorial contributions may be made to Amador Co. Foundation, Child Abuse Council, P.O. Box 1154, Jackson, CA 95642.
