Obituary of Lois Vimini

Lois V. Vimini passed away Tuesday, December 7, 2010 of a heart attack in Jackson, CA at the age of 75 years. She was born January 26, 1935 to Paul and Lottie (Clark) Beghtel in Waterford, CA. She attended grammar school in Waterford and high school in Oakdale, CA. Lois is the youngest of five children, Lloyd Beghtel, Helen Boone, Hilda Greenlee and Irene Struznik. In 1958, Lois met Dominic Vimini at his tavern, Vim's Club in Ione. They married soon afterward and gave birth to Tanya Vimini in 1959, completing their, yours, mine and ours new family. Lois worked as a bookkeeper, bartender and cook for the numerous businesses owned by Vim and Lois. She was also a Cub Scout leader, brownie leader, PTA committee member and Miss Ione Pageant Director. She spent several months each year organizing and directing the choir in the performance of annual cantatas for many years at what is now called "Cornerstone Church". Lois also sang in the choir and played the piano and organ. Her only living sister, Irene and her were both violinists and played duets in concerts and they both played the piano together as well. Lois was widowed in 1986. With a passionate love for making a difference in other's lives, Lois became an active member in the Ione Rotary Club (including serving as a past president and a charter member), Lion's Club, and Ione Native Daughters of the Golden West in 1960 to present. She was a great cook and found enjoyment running a mobile catering business and planning and participating in numerous fundraising projects annually with her equipment and talent for cooking. She volunteered constantly to help others, including providing winter hats, gloves and scarves for the needy. In 1994, along with her granddaughter-Angel and daughter's Marilyn and Tanya, she was one of the founders of the Dream-On Foundation for building self-esteem for those with disabilities, homeless and disadvantaged and she served as a corporate officer until 2007. Lois fell in love with Tony Matulich in 1992 and the two of them golfed their way through many of the top golf courses around CA. They both had an equal love for golfing and they enjoyed planning and participating in numerous golf tournaments. Lois was an active member of the Ione Castle Oaks Golf Association and and the Pioneer Mace Meadows Golf Association. After Tony's death in 2003, Lois was given an honorary membership from the PGA. In 2007, Lois was honored as the Grand Marshal by the Ione Homecoming Association. Lois loved dancing, deep sea fishing, listening to Elvis Presley music and movies, traveling in her motorhome and spending time with her family and friends. Lois loved her family deeply and showed that love in so many wonderful ways her entire life. She would not think of hanging up the phone with her family without saying, "I Love You", even if she talked to that person three times in one day! Lois was an amazing listener to people's problems, she loved everyone unconditionally, she forgave immediately, she turned a deaf ear to gossip and she saw something good in everyone she met. She knew how to have fun, love, laugh and be appreciative for everything in her life. Her favorite saying was: "Nothing given from the heart is ever lost, for it can always be found in the heart of another". She is survived by her children: Ron Speer, Marilyn Pritchard, Bevery Stauffacher and Tanya Vimini, Don Vimini Jr and Mike Vimini, Sr; her Grandchildren: Angel McCormick, Ed Speer, Ron Speer Jr, Angelique Dalton, Kristopher Stauffacher, Elizabeth Gray, Mike Vimini, Jr and Wayne Meath; and her Great-Grandchildren: Ashley Speer, Dylan Speer, Haley Grace McCormick, Madison Speer, Ryan Speer, Ethan Dalton, Jared Stauffacher, Johnathan Miller, Lilly Dalton and Sonya Gray.
