Obituary of Julia Ruiz

Julia Ruiz passed away Saturday, November 13, 2010 in Jackson at the age of 96 years. Julia was born in Sutter Creek and lived there all her life. She graduated from Sutter Creek High School in 1933. Julia worked as a waitress in her father's Italian restaurant at 32 Main Street in Sutter Creek during high school and for a short time after graduation. She soon started a career as a salesperson for a woman's clothing store on Main Street in Jackson that lasted for 42 years. In 1950 she married Mike Ruiz and the couple made their home in Amador County. Julia enjoyed her retirement life by gardening in her vegetable and flower gardens and reading. She was a member of the Native Daughters of the Golden West and the Young Ladies Institute. She is survived by her niece, Deidre Meath; grandnephew, John Meath; grandniece, Tara Meath all of Sutter Creek. She was preceded in death by her husband, Mike Ruiz; sister, Marie; brother, John; sister-in-law, Jean Ferreccio; and nephew, Paul. At her request there will be private services.
