Obituary of Raymond Cavagnaro

Raymond Cavagnaro, born in Stockton, California to John Cavagnaro and Edith Sanguinetti Cavagnaro, raised on the family ranch in Camanche, Calaveras County, California, passed away on September 3, 2010 at his home in Ione after a recent diagnosis of pancreatic cancer. At his side at the moment of death were his son, Tony Cavagnaro, his grandson, Zachary Cavagnaro-Jackson, and Tony's companion, Mike Neuschwanger. Raymond is also survived by his sister, Marlene McFall, of San Andreas, and his grandson, Justin Cavagnaro, of Sacramento. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 43 years, Rosemarie Anderson Cavagnaro and his son Paul Cavagnaro. Ray graduated from the College of Agriculture at UC Davis in 1957 and was honorably discharged from the United States Army Reserve in 1967. He devoted long years of work to Pacific Gas and Electric Company in Jackson, California, where he served as New Business Representative until his retirement. Raymond loved his life, his home in Ione, his garden where he continued to care for his wife's many roses, and his longtime involvement with Sacred Heart Catholic Church. He was especially fond of his dear neighbor, Margaret Crain, and the walks they would take together in recent times. A Funeral Mass was celebrated on Thursday, September 9, 2010 at 1 p.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Relihan Drive, Ione, California. Recitation of the Rosary was Wednesday, September 8, 2010 at 7 p.m. at Sacred Heart Church. Committal was at Campo Seco Catholic Cemetery following a reception in the church hall after Mass.
