Obituary of Stephen "Steve" Maggard

Stephen "Steve" Maggard passed away Saturday, August 14, 2010 at his home in Pioneer at the age of 79 years. He was born June 25, 1931 to Harold and Teresa (Krentz) Maggard in Topeka, KS. Steve was a veteran serving as a sergeant in the U.S. Marine Corps, during the Korean War. He married Janet "Jan" Halsted on February 14, 1965. Steve worked 30 years as an accountant for industrial companies that enabled him to travel abroad to many countries including Liberia and Saudi Arabia. He enjoyed reading newspapers, watching old spaghetti westerns, and the local wildlife. He was an avid fan of the Giants and 49ers. Steve and Jan moved to Pioneer in 2000 after spending most of their married life in the Bay Area. Steve is survived by his wife of 45 years, Janet Maggard of Pioneer; children, Stephanie Maggard and husband, William Carl of Half Moon Bay, CA, and Matthew Maggard and wife, Cherrie of Torrance, CA; brother, Thomas Maggard of Vista, CA; nieces Terri, Amy, Joleen, Mary, and Deanna, and nephews Marty, Charlie, and Rob, and grandchildren, Nicky, Raymond, Cherisa, Jessica, and Alex. A graveside service was held on Thursday, August 19, at Sacramento Valley VA National Cemetery in Dixon, CA.
