Obituary of Margaret "Markie" Cunningham

Margaret "Markie" Cunningham passed away Saturday, July 31, 2010 in Sacramento at the age of 86 years. She was born April 30, 1924 to Roy and Bertha (Robertson) Black in Perrysburg, Ohio. Markie was raised in Perrysburg and graduated from high school in two years, attended secretarial school, and entered into the work force working for a lawyer at age 17. She worked as a secretary for a bank in Toledo, Ohio and met Richard "Dick" Cunningham, a persistent bank customer. The couple dated for six months, fell in love, and were married September 27, 1947 in Perrysburg. Markie was the mom that everyone wanted to have and all the kids hung out at the Cunningham house. She had a great sense of humor, was an incredible wife and was as perfect as she was real. Markie volunteered as a librarian, church secretary, and was the scorekeeper for the local golf tournaments. She enjoyed her garden and yard. She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Dick Cunningham of Ione; children, Andrea Kennedy and husband, Daniel of Concord, Gary Cunningham of Ventura; grandchildren, Emily, Olivia, Abigail; great-grandchildren, Addison, Diego, and Bella.
