Obituary of Jennie Hawkins

Jennie Hawkins passed away Wednesday, June 30, 2010 in Jackson at the age of 95 years. She was born November 24, 1914 to Peitro and Rose (Tenuchi) Bordoni in Nichols, CA. Jennie had been an Ione resident for over 60 years and worked as a cook for the Ione School system for several years. She enjoyed traveling in her motor home to Washington State to dig clams, collect oysters, and catch salmon to share with her beloved family and friends. She is survived by her children, Jean Hines and husband, Tom, Ronald Hawkins and wife, Catherine, Douglas Hawkins and wife, Wilma; 14 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and 12 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel Hawkins; grandchild, Ronald Hawkins, Jr. and great grandchildren, Robert Hines and Katelynne Hawkins. At the family's request there will be no public services. A private family and friends memorial service will be held Saturday, August 14, 2010, 1:00 P.M. at the Ione VFW Hall. Inurnment will be private. In lieu of flowers please donate to a charity of your choice.
