Obituary of Christina Marie Waklee

Our dear mother, Christina Marie Waklee, sadly passed away on March 12, 2023, in her home at the age of 71. Tina was vivacious, fun-loving, thoughtful, and kind. She was a voracious reader and enjoyed spending time with family, friends, and her dog. Tina was previously zealous about cycling and riding her Harley. She loved cooking and baking, especially for holidays with her family.

Tina was born in Wheeling, W. VA, spent the majority of her childhood in Southern California and lived in various states in her early adulthood. She has been a resident of Amador County since the late 1970’s.

Tina had many jobs throughout her life but began her career as a childcare provider while working on her degree in education as her children got older. She started teaching in 1992 at Ione Junior High and the continuation school before retiring. She was passionate about “her kids” and fought for more programs and options to help them. During her career she championed a ropes course, as well as sailing and cycling programs for youth. After retirement she often volunteered her time at NAMI

Tina was preceded in death by her parents, Edward, and Virginia Carosone. She is survived by her siblings, Jim, Phil, Annette and David, her children Sean and Sarah Waklee, her daughter-in-law Erin, and her much loved, and always spoiled by her, grandchildren, Keegan, and Connor Waklee. The family will be hosting a private celebration of life.
