Obituary of Alton Clarence Hacker, Jr

Alton Clarence Hacker passed away in Reno, NV on Sunday, May 7, 2023, of natural causes at the age of 83. He was born July 31, 1939, in Sacramento, CA.

His wife, Barbara Hacker proceeded him in death in 2001, son, Jim Steinman in 2010 and sister, Lois Hacker passed in 2002. He is survived by his daughters, Michele (Mickie) Steinman Bartkowski of Fiddletown, CA, Cheryl Nielsen of Sun Valley, NV and Francine Hacker of Georgetown, CA; sisters, Mary Joe Carter of Mt. Aukumn, CA, Rose Marie Summers of Washington State, Carol Brougham of Norfolk, VA, Alma Hacker of Amador City, CA and Chris Hacker of Amador City, CA. As well as grandchildren, Tara Steinman of Las Vegas, NV, Jennifer Glavich of Fiddletown, CA, Jason Carll of Sparks, NV, Mykalina Hacker of Mokelumne Hill & Joshua hacker of Georgetown, CA. He is survived by many great & great great grandchildren, nieces & nephews.

Alton was raised in Calaveras and Amador Counties until his wife’s passing. He then moved to Sun Valley, NV to be near his daughter, Cheryl & her husband, Tom Nielsen. They lived together for many years. After retirement, he stayed busy coaching t-ball and little league. Also, he coached basketball at Preston School of Industry. He loved horse racing, nascar, football & had season tickets to the Reno Aces baseball game. Every year he went to Reno Rodeo and bought tickets to make sure family & friends would be together once a year for the bull riding events, including this year even though he would not be there. Alton was good natured, quirky & loved to B.S. and tell stories. He loved his three dogs and often took care of his grand dogs.

A graveside service will be held at the Fiddletown Cemetery on Friday, June 9, 2023, at 11:00 a.m.
