Obituary of Michael Joseph Blake

Michael Joseph Blake passed away on June 10, 2023, at the age of 87. He was born on December 13,1935 in Chicago, IL to Michael J. and Alice C. Blake.

Michael is survived by his wife of 25 years, Jeannette Rose Blake; daughter, Christine Blake Oliver (Peter); son, Michael Joseph Blake (Shannon); grandchildren, Mykel Blake Oliver, Michael Joseph Blake, Brady John Blake; stepdaughters, Eva Oliver (David), Lori Haney (Dale), Kristen Carney (Dion); stepsons, Mark Campbell, and Todd Campbell; step grandchildren, Eva Masdeo Oliver (David), Markie, Jessie, Cody, Duncan, and Tessa. Step great-grandchildren, Joseph, and Vince. He is proceeded in death by his first wife, Bentley Blake.

Michael attended the University of Southern California where he graduated with a D.D.S Doctor of Dental Surgery, he practiced dentistry from 1958-2015. He was drafted into the Army 1962-64 ranking Captain, stationed at Ft. Huachuca AZ as an Oral Surgeon. Took a “Dream Career break” from dentistry in 1972, and moved to Aspen, CO, where he and his 1st wife were ski instructors at Snowmass and Aspen Mountains. In 1979, he purchased a Dental Practice in Ione, where he finished his career as a dentist.

He enjoyed long haul Harley rides with his friends, Traveled Europe, skiing, frequent trips to his favorite vacation destinations such as Waikiki Beach Hawaii where he would enjoy surfing, snorkeling, and exploring and multiple cruises to Alaska’s Inland Passage. He was an avid lifetime fisherman, countless long-range tuna trips in Southern California and Mexico from the 1960’s to 2015. Also spent decades as captain of his own boats, the favorite being “Uncle Joe” navigating the Pacific Ocean and fishing from Dillon Beach. He is an accomplished hunter as well as Koi Pond enthusiast.

There will be a private graveside service on Thursday June 22, 2023.
