Obituary of Linda Lee Rock

Linda Lee Rock 

1944-2023 

Linda Lee Rock, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and teacher, passed away peacefully on July 28, 2023, in Jackson, California, at the age of 79. Linda was born on April 17, 1944, in Hammond, Indiana, to Cliffton (Bud) and Lucille Ball Garrard. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Mark Edward Garrard. 

Linda was a spirited and spunky individual who believed in being a "there you are" kind of person. She genuinely cared about those around her and always made an effort to make others feel seen and appreciated. Linda cherished her 59-year marriage to her loving husband, Donovan Rock. Together, they created a beautiful family and a lifetime of memories. 

Linda was a dedicated teacher who spent 25 years at Plymouth Elementary School. She touched the lives of countless students, and even after retiring, she remained in touch with many of them. Linda's passion for teaching and her love for her students were evident in the lasting impact she made. 

In addition to her career, Linda had a variety of hobbies that brought her joy. She was a talented pianist, a skilled seamstress, and had a knack for space planning, architecture, and decorating. Linda's creativity also extended to making intricate pop-up cards, showcasing her attention to detail and love for crafting. 

Linda's faith played an important role in her life, she dearly loved the Lord Jesus Christ and enjoyed her church family at Cornerstone Church of Ione. 

A celebration of Linda's life will be held on August 12, 2023, at 11:00 am. Location is TBD and will be posted online. Family, friends, and all whose lives were touched by Linda are invited to attend and honor her memory. 

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to Cornerstone Church of Ione's building fund. Linda had a deep appreciation for architecture, decorating, and building beautiful homes, and contributions to the building fund would be a meaningful way to honor her memory. Linda Rock will be deeply missed by her husband, Donovan Rock; her daughters, Louanne Oppel, Lisa Howe, and Amy Simonsen; her sons-in-law, Matt Oppel, Philip Howe, and Matt Simonsen; her grandchildren, David, Ryan, Emily, Stephen, Caleb, Jonathan, Daniel, Maddy, Nate, and Katie; and all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her legacy of love, kindness, and dedication will continue to inspire us all.
