Betty was born on July 23, 1946, in Blythe California to Elsie and Henry Jones, where she lived and went to elementary school until she was eight years old when she moved to Oroville, California. Her father was in the labor union, so they traveled most of her childhood. In Oroville Betty and her three sisters were bussed every day to church school until she moved to Ione California and went to 7th and 8th grade.  This is where she met her future husband, Jim Duboise of 34 years, Bettys family moved once again, and she went to high school in Oroville and Roseville California.  Betty married Jim when she was 16 years old. He was stationed in Norfolk, Virginia. Betty traveled across the United States by train to go live with Jim in Norfolk, Virginia. Betty and Jim moved back to Ione ca. (at what they called the Wishing well house at Buena Vista) Here they had their first daughter, Michelle, and their second daughter, Jaime. Then they moved to their family home on Irish Hill Road in 1967. They had their son John two years later. Betty started working at Preston School of industry In Ione. She retired from Preston after 25 years.

Betty loved taking her kids on family vacation to the ocean where her family also met up. Betty went every year to Reno for Jim’s trap shooting tournaments. Betty also enjoyed Ione homecoming with her family. Betty was a great seamstress, she loved sewing the girls all their clothes, curtains, and of course, hunting bags. In her younger days Kenny Rogers was her favorite singer. Betty could cook deer meat like no one else!

After retirement, Betty moved to Missouri for three years, then back to Ione and bought her own home in 2009.This is where she passed away. Betty loved being home, watching Hallmark movies, she loved to sew, collecting dishes and textiles, and decorating. Her great love was church, and spreading the word of Jesus and she did a wonderful job!

She spent her time with her family, friends, church, friends, neighbors, and of course, her kids, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. We will miss her so much. At the family’s request there will be no services at this time.
