Obituary of Melville Joseph Outram

Melville Joseph Outram passed away Tuesday, September 12, 2023, in Roseville, CA at the age of 81 years old. He was born on December 7, 1941, in Ontario, Canada to his parents, Joseph Edward and Bertha Lanore (Cole) Outram.

 

Melville is survived by his wife of 60 years, Muriel Outram of Ione, CA; son, Mel (Cynthia) Outram of Lodi, CA, daughters, Melissa (Shane) Albrecht of Ione, CA, and Marilynn (Scott) Smith of Phelan, CA; grandchildren, Tyler and Alyssa Outram, Timothy Albrecht, Marsha, Melanie, and Scotty Smith; 5 great grandchildren; sister, Kaye Cockran of Michigan and brother, Henry Outram of Michigan. He is preceded in death by his sisters, Dot, and Nancy.  

 

Melville attended college in Southern California before serving proudly in the Navy for two tours during the Vietnam War. While serving in the military, he moved around to Vallejo, Idaho Falls, San Diego, and Pearl Harbor. Upon retiring from the military, he received a job at Southern CAL Edison, he worked there for 8 years, and was reassigned to SMUD in Sacramento County for 30 years, where he worked at Rancho Seco Power Plant. They resided in Elk Grove for 8 ½ years, then Galt for 28 years finally settling in Ione for 20 years.

 

Melville was compassionate about soccer which he volunteered and implemented the Galt Highschool soccer program which he became the head coach for 15 years. He also was compassionate about fishing and spending time with family.
