Obituary of Elizabeth Louise Burgess

Elizabeth Louise, “Betty Lou” Burgess was born in Ione, California on July 25, 1939 to Flint and Madaline Yerrington.  She spent her life between Ione and Pioneer, California.  She was preceded in death by her father, Flint, her mother, Madaline, her brothers, Dick and Pete Yerrington and her beloved Ruby Grover and Anna Froman.  She is survived by her three sons, Kenny Burgess (Mattie), John L. Burgess, and Winston E. Burgess, all of Pioneer.  Four grandchildren; Victoria Donovan (Pat) of Pine Grove, CA, Derek Burgess and fiancé Emily Morris of Pioneer, Melanie Burgess of Battle Mountain, Nevada and Ann Marie Riggle (Andrew) of Long Beach, CA.  Five great grandchildren; Thyssen and Jameson Donovan, Tucker and Eva Burgess and Zuri Burgess. Betty Lou lover her family and one of her greatest joys in life was cooking, baking and feeding her family which she continued to do up until recently.  She was office manager and bookkeeper for Burgess Paving and Excavating for 60 years.  She helped to make Burgess Paving what it is today.  She loved her family, her property, her home and nature, as well as being an avid horsewoman who led packhorses in the high county.  A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Please keep the family in your prayers.
