As a long time neighbor and freind of my family - Gretchen was a generous and thoughtful spirit that will be missed and always remembered fondly. Her physical limitations of the past few years never seemed to outweigh her spunk and appreciation for her family, friends, and neighbors. My deepest sympathies to her children and grandchildren. -

When I first moved to Amador County, I rented the upstairs portion of Gretchen’s home with my very young daughter Gina. She also allowed me to park a large U-Haul on the property while our house was being built. I did not know Gretchen, but she had heard of my dilemma and graciously offered her place. We lived there for several weeks and that act of kindness and the resulting friendship we had, was and is an indelible memory.
I truly am a better person for having known her.

Those of us who were privileged to call her friend know what an extraordinary human being we have lost. She was intelligent, accomplished, generous, kind and loving, and I know how much she will be missed by her family. Karen, Diana, Hale, Jan and Tom, I extend to you my very sincere condolences in the loss of your mother.

What a pillar in our community. The first time I went over to her house for a visit, she was under the kitchen sink working on the plumbing. I saw then that she was a very unique person. There's nothing she couldn't do. She's a role model for us all. I will always remember her happy smile and deep caring for everyone. She was a great person and will be greatly missed.

To a wonderful woman, second to none. What a powerful influence Gretchen had with anyone who was lucky enough to know her
Five children, all intelligent and compassionate as a result of their moms loving influence

Gretchen was definitely one of a kind. She was also a Hospice Respite Volunteer. She did so many wonderful things that it would have been easier to list the things she didn’t do. It would’ve been a short list and only exist simply because there wasn’t enough time in the day for her to have done them.
The world has lost an amazing lady.
